Royal Pets Center runs a real grooming salon in Gishushu, Kigali — not a quick hose-down out the back, but a dedicated space with trained groomers who handle pets every day. Calm, careful handling matters as much as the tools: a stressed dog fights the bath, so we work at the animal’s pace.

We groom dogs and cats of every breed and coat type, from small short-haired dogs to long double-coated breeds. And because the salon shares a building with our vet clinic and pet shop, anything we spot on the skin or coat during a groom can be checked the same day.

A full groom at Royal Pets Center can include:

• Bath with a coat-appropriate shampoo chosen for your dog’s skin and coat.
• Brush-out & de-shedding to clear loose undercoat and stop matting.
• Haircut or trim styled to the breed and how you like your dog kept.
• Nail clipping to a safe, comfortable length.
• Ear cleaning to keep ears dry and free of buildup.
• Sanitary trim around the hygiene areas.
• Finishing — a final brush, dry and tidy so your dog leaves looking and smelling fresh.

Different coats need different care. Short-coated dogs mostly want a bath, a de-shed and a nail trim and can go longer between grooms. Long-coated breeds need regular brushing and trimming to avoid mats that pull at the skin.

Double-coated breedsshed heavily and benefit most from professional de-shedding — we clear the dead undercoat rather than shaving it, which keeps the coat doing its job. As a rule, most dogs do well with a full groom every 6 to 8 weeks, with brushing at home in between. Tell us the breed and we’ll advise on the right schedule.

Grooming isn’t just about looks. Regular baths and brushing keep the skin and coat healthy, and de-shedding stops painful mats that can trap moisture and cause sores. A groom is also a good time to spot fleas, ticks, lumps or skin trouble early.

When we notice something that needs a closer look, our vet clinic is right next door — so a parasite or skin issue caught on the grooming table can be treated the same visit instead of becoming a bigger problem.

Grooming is by appointment so your dog gets proper one-on-one time. A standard bath and tidy takes one to two hours; a full haircut on a long or matted coat takes longer — we’ll give you a realistic finish time at drop-off.
